Scott Speed could have clinched the ARCA championship at Toledo Speedway this past Sunday by keeping his car and his head in the race. Since I'm posting about him here, you can be rest assured that he did neither of the above. On lap 27, Speed took a ride into the outside wall of Turn 3 courtesy of Ricky Stenhouse Jr., his main competition for the series title. On the restart, Speed repaid the favor by turning hard right into Stenhouse, tossing Ricky into the 1st turn wall with Speed coming to rest on the inside wall. 2nd place finisher Matt Carter summed it up nicely when he said "What Speed did was just stupid. It was Saturday night short track racing in the street stock division, not ARCA/ReMax Series racing". But honestly, Matt, were you that surprised that Speed would lose his cool when it counted the most?
Speed now moves from the scene of his latest meltdown to what could very well be the scene of his next one.......the #84 Red Bull Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The #84 is currently 35th in series points which guarantees a starting spot in this week's race at Martinsville, Va. Can Scott keep it in the top 35? I'm thinking NO. Stay tuned.......
